With a maximum group size of twelve, this boutique tour from Cairns to Undara and Cobbold Gorge is without doubt the perfect way to explore the outback.

A glimpse into the days when dinosaurs were roaming the landscape. At this time, outback Queensland was an ocean full of coral, just like the Great Barrier Reef. Due to volcanic activity, the landscape changed forever, resulting in the geological formations that we see today.

The Undara Lava Tubes and Cobbold Gorge are unquestionably icons of this history. A guided tour of the Undara Lava Tubes will amaze as you walk through caves created by lava flow about 190,000 years ago. As a result of these formations, native flora and fauna have made their home here. During your cave tour, you might spot bats, owls and rock wallabies to name just a few.

Cobbold Gorge is also steeped in serenity and natural history. Enjoy a scenic boat ride through the calm waters of the gorge while surrounded by the ancient rock faces which tower up to 30 metres. Additional options are available to view the gorge, for instance, you could try a scenic helicopter flight or even stand up paddleboard down the waterway.

This outback tour departing Cairns visits iconic Undara and Cobbold Gorge. Explore caves and natural wonders with passionate guides over four days. Discover native flora and fauna while marvelling at the vibrant colours and scenery of the “Savannah Plains” of Outback Queensland.

Following your return to Cairns, you might like to further your historical journey of the area with a visit to Kuranda on the historical Kuranda Scenic Rail and Skyrail package.

This tour operates on select dates between May and October, for this reason, please consult the booking calendar for dates. If you would rather the luxury of a Private Charter, please contact our office for availability.
